Learning Objectives

Discuss current and emerging science on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), toxic stress, and their relationship to clinical outcomes.
Recognize the rationale for early detection and screening of ACEs.
Identify effective strategies to overcome barriers to knowledge and resources, and to improve screening.
Implement use of available community resources to promote resilience and alleviate toxic stress.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians (pediatrics, primary care and family medicine, obstetrics), residents, and advanced practice providers.

Credit Fee
There is no charge to attend this educational activity. Physician participants can claim AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for a flat fee of $55. Payment is to be made upon registration.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC)

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 2.5 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessments of the participant and feedback to the participant, enables the participant to earn 2.5 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.
