Baptist Radiology Resident Calls

Sample Schedule

5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Evening Shift Monday - Sunday
5:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. Short Float
10:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Weekends

Sample Call Distribution by Year

(Subject to change each year with new board exam format)

1st Year

  • Residents participate in 5pm – 10pm evening shifts and 8am – 5pm weekend shifts with other residents and staff present

1st year Resident expectations include: Complete month-long core rotations in Chest, GI/GU (x2), Body CT (x2), Neuroradiology (x2), Interventional Radiology (x2), Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Inpatient Fluoroscopy

2nd Year

  • 1-1.5 weeks of short float
  • 4 weeks of night float (divided over 2 months)
  • 8am – 5pm weekend shifts

2nd year Resident expectations include: Further exposure to Musculoskeletal, Pediatric Radiology (2 months in the 2nd year at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital)

3rd Year

  • 6 weeks of short float
  • 2 weeks of night float

3rd year Resident expectations include: Pediatric Radiology (1 month in the 3rd year at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital), Musculoskeletal, American Institute for Radiologic Pathology (AIRP) (3rd or 4th year)

4th Year

  • 2 weeks of short float
  • 2 weeks of night float

4th year Resident expectations include: Electives, AIRP (3rd or 4th year), advanced Chest/Cardiovascular radiology with exposure to Cardiac MRI
