Meet Our EAP Counselors
All of the clinicians at CONCERN EAP hold master’s degrees and are Licensed Professional Counselors or Licensed Clinical Social Workers and have been trained in the Mitchell Model of providing Critical Incident Stress Debriefings. We have five Substance Abuse Professionals under the U.S. Department of Transportation; two Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors and one Certified Employee Assistance Professional on staff.
Melissa Wilkes Donahue, Director
Melissa Wilkes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and currently serves in the role of Director at Concern EAP. Melissa received her Master degree in Social Work from Jackson State University and her Bachelor degree from Mississippi College. Prior to serving in her current role she was the Director of Mobile Crisis for Alliance Healthcare Services. She is an experienced Crisis Intervention Team Trainer and she has a substantial amount of experience working in crisis settings and at mental health centers. She is a natural giver which has led her to volunteer her time with the American Red Cross, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Memphis, St. Jude and the Junior League of Memphis just to name a few. Overall, Melissa is energetic, outgoing and both of those traits make her training sessions awesome.
Tracey L. Johnson, Assistant Director
Dr. Tracey L. Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Mental Health Service Provider (MHSP) designation. She earned her Doctorate of Education Degree in Counseling, Education and Supervision from Argosy University in 2013. She is also an alumnus from the University of Memphis where she received her Master of Science Degree in Counseling and from Ole Miss where she got her Bachelor degree in Sociology. Dr. Johnson has worked as a private practitioner for many years. Her passion for helping others led her to being the Executive Director over several nonprofits that had a focus on counseling, self-help and mentoring. Dr. Johnson is also a veteran having served in the United States Navy. Dr. Johnson enjoys providing counseling and training to diverse groups. Currently in her role as the Assistant Director of Concern EAP she is able to develop and present training sessions on myriad topics. She enjoys interacting with others which makes her training sessions very engaging. Here are just a few of the topics she covers: Diversity, Positive Thinking, Work-Life Balance, Drug Free Workplace, Conflict Resolution, Anti-Harassment, Effective Communication, Coping with Change, Self-Care, Stress Management, Opioid Awareness, Time Management and Customer Service.
Don Akey, EAP Counselor
Don Akey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor and a Certified Substance Abuse Professional. He received his master's degree from the University of Tennessee. He joined the CONCERN staff in 2006.
Jesse Carpenter, EAP Counselor
Jesse Carpenter is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Mental Health Service Provider (MHSP) designation. He has a Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance as well as a Bachelor of Science in Health and Recreation. Jesse is a retired Captain from the United States Army as well as being a retired JROTC Instructor from Shelby County Schools. Jesse has a vast amount of experience working with clients dealing with substance abuse and anger management issues. Jesse also works as a Military Family Life Consultant helping military personnel who are about to deploy or who have just returned from a deployment. He does a lot of volunteer work with his local church and other community organizations. Jesse is well informed and knowledgeable about many topics. When Jesse presents he knows how to share information in a manner that makes it relatable and enjoyable.
Darin Dantzler, EAP Counselor
Darin Dantzler is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor and a Substance Abuse Professional. Dantzler joined the CONCERN staff in 2013. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from William Carey University and a master's degree in counseling from Freed-Hardeman University. Before his work in the EAP, he was an addiction counselor at Delta Medical Center and a guidance counselor for Shelby County Schools.
Linda Jones, EAP Counselor
Linda Jones received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois, and a master's degree in social work from the University of Tennessee. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and joined the CONCERN EAP staff in 2009. Jones has worked in outpatient as well as inpatient psychiatric settings over the course of her counseling career. She is also certified as a Substance Abuse Professional. While most of her professional experience has been with adults, she also has experience with children and teenagers.
Stephanie Maddox, EAP Counselor
Stephanie Maddox is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She earned her master's degree in counseling in 2002 from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Since then, Maddox has been providing counseling to adults, couples and adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Stephanie has been a therapist with CONCERN EAP since 2007. She is passionate about helping people with all kinds of issues, especially those who are in abusive relationships, people who struggle with eating disorders and survivors of sexual abuse.
Teresa Maxwell, EAP Couneslor
Teresa Maxwell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She attended Tulane University's Dual Degree program and received her Master's Degree in Social Work and Public Health from 1996-97. She also completed a yearlong post master's fellowship in infant mental health at the Louisiana State University's Department of Psychiatry from 2002-2003. Not only did this help her work with young children, but adults as well, because it shed light on how environmental influences affect brain development. She worked for the first eight years of her career in outpatient behavioral mental health. Teresa then turned to medical social work, where she worked in the dialysis field for 10 years. Just prior to joining CONCERN, Teresa was employed at an Intensive Outpatient program working with women exhibiting eating disorders. Teresa started her career working for Baptist Memorial Health Care in the business office when she was only 17 years old.
Donna Simpson, EAP Counselor
Donna Simpson received her master's degree in counseling in 1993 from the University of Memphis. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. Additionally, she is certified in providing Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD). Simpson has been with CONCERN EAP since 1998 and enjoys working with various populations. More specifically, she likes working with couples, women's issues and helping people reach their desired outcomes.
